Judge Rosemary Pfeiffer’s 23-year career on the bench followed 10-year career in private family and civil law practice. Taking her passion for family law to the bench, she was appointed a commissioner and later joined the Superior Court family law department. Even after moving to other assignments, she remained active in family law by volunteering to take on cases when the family law judges had a conflict or took vacation and also when counsel requested her specifically for case management.

1991-2011 Superior Court Judge, San Mateo County Superior Court
The first woman elected to the San Mateo County Superior Court, Judge Pfeiffer handled assignments in probate, family law, civil and criminal trials, law and motion, LPS and mental health, in addition to serving as Presiding Judge in 2000.

AREAS OF SPECIALTY
Family Law
Over 23 years of experience in family law, mediating and case managing several hundred cases to settlement prior to trial, in addition to hundreds of short cause hearings and numerous trials. These included custody, date of separation, support and property matters, with particular experience in high-conflict custody cases and high-income support issues.
Probate, Estates & Trusts
Probate Judge for over 5 years, mediating and case managing close to 200 cases to settlement prior to trial and trying approximately 50 cases of all types, such as will and trust contests, including capacity and undue influence cases, contested conservatorships and accounting and removal petitions.
General Civil
Judge Pfeiffer also served as the Law and Motion judge in San Mateo County on three occasions and as such has familiarity with discovery disputes and procedural issues in civil areas.
